EASTON------Steven M. Baker, 60, of Easton, formerly of Melbourne Beach, FL,
died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at the Veterans Administration Medical
Center in Brockton after a period of failing health.
Born in Waterbury, CT., on December 9, 1949, a son of the late
Charles F. and Carol (Bottomley) Baker Jr., he was raised in Easton
and was a 1969 graduate of Oliver Ames High School.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the US Navy in Patrol Squadron Eleven with the rank of AZ3. He was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, the National Defense
Service Medal, Republic of Philippines Presidential Unit Citation
and a Good Conduct Award for service ending 13 NOV 73.
Steven lived in Melbourne Beach, FL, for several years before
moving back to Easton in 1984. He was employed as a metal
fabricator in the lighting industry and was employed by New
Stamp Lighting in Easton.
Steven enjoyed woodworking, metal design, bird watching and
visiting the family's West Island summer residence. An avid reader,
he was a horticulturalist who enjoyed plants, flowers and gardens.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Charles F. Baker III
of New Bedford, James P. Baker of Easton, Deborah A. Dalton
of Fairhaven, Patricia J. Morton of New Bedford, Thomas E.
Baker of Norton, Mary M. McQuaid of Berkley, Jonathan C.
Baker of Easton and Jennifer L. Bryant of Shirley, NY; godfather
of Julie Baker of Easton; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are private. Donations in Steven's memory may be
