EASTON-----Ardythe Mae (Emmons) Black, 98, of Easton, formerly of Auburn, died peacefully Wednesday at Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Easton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Harold Fred Black.
Born in Oxford, MA. on February 23, 1913, a daughter of the late Charles C. and Madge (Snyder) Emmons, she was raised in Oxford and was a graduate of Oxford High School. She continued education at Newton-Wellesley School of Nursing earning a degree as a Registered Nurse.
Ardythe was employed as a registered nurse for the Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester, retiring as assistant to the Hospital Administrator. She was the past worthy Matron of the Eastern Starr, a member of both the Clara Barton Chapter in Oxford and the Stella Chapter of Auburn.
Her hobbies included painting, enameling, ceramics and sewing. She enjoyed spending winters in Punta Gorda, FL.
Ardythe is survived by three children, Susan Masse and her husband Anthony of Easton, Harold Fred Black II and his wife Patricia of Auburn, and MaryJane Black-Kolb and her husband Jeffrey of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Harold Fred Black III of CA., Rebecca Lanier of GA & KY, Johanna Masse of Ann Arbor, MI., and Joshua Masse of CA; She was also the sister of the late Mildred Brodeur, Chipman Emmons, Maxyne Seifert and Frederick Emmons.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton.
