East Taunton – William (Bill) J. Shine, age 65, a resident of East Taunton for the past 28 years, passed away peacefully under the care of his family at home on March 12, 2021. He was the loving husband of Lynne A. (McCarthy) Shine for 41 years.

A son of the late Robert C. and Barbara A. (MacKinnon) Shine, Bill was born in Quincy and raised in Braintree. A graduate of Braintree High School class of 1974, Bill continued his education earning an Associate's degree in Fire Science Technology.

Before retiring, Bill was most recently employed as a Community Advocate for Independent Associates in Bridgewater after many years as a cabinet maker. Bill enjoyed woodworking, camping, and yardwork. He was also involved as a leader in his sons' Boy Scout careers with Troop 40 of Taunton.

In addition to his wife Lynne, he is survived by his two sons: Robert W. Shine, his wife Julie, and their son Liam of Easton; and Daniel P. Shine and his partner Michael O'Kelly of Wareham; and many nieces and nephews.

William's funeral services are private by request of his family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to the National Council on Independent Living, www.NCIL.Kindful.com.
