EASTON—Theresa M. (Groom) Washburn-Copeland, 61, a lifelong resident of Easton, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at home under the care of her family. She was the wife of the late Martin W. Washburn and Kenneth H. Copeland.

Born in Brockton, a daughter of the late Gerald A. and Margaret V. (Brophy) Groom, she was raised in Easton and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School and continued her education earning a certificate in nursing.

Theresa was employed as a certified nursing assistant at St. Joseph Manor in Brockton for 20 years. She enjoyed amateur painting and drawing, poetry writing, and was an avid reader.

Theresa took pleasure in visiting the peacefulness of the ocean and walking along the beach and was granted her wish of visiting the ocean again just prior to her death.

She is survived by her children, Michael E. Washburn and his wife Elisabeth of Taunton, Aaron M. Washburn and his wife Alison of Easton and Deborah E. Washburn and her husband Kevin of Taunton; her siblings, Dennis R. Groom of Fall River, Brendan C. Groom of Taunton, and Lillian F. Grasso of East Falmouth; her longtime family friends, Richard Anderson of Easton and David J. Gardner of Easton; also survived by 6 grandchildren and her loving dog "Trouble".

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30 p.m. Visiting hours on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, donations in Theresa's memory may be sent to The American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA. 01701.
