Heart Emblem

WEST BRIDGEWATER----Robert R. "Bobby" May Sr., 61, a resident of West Bridgewater for the past 40 years, died unexpectedly on Monday, January 22, 2018. He was the devoted husband of Doris G. (Fischer) May for 43 years.

Born in Quincy, a son of Barbara (Sargent) May of Brockton and the late Carroll A. "Sonny" May, he was raised in Brockton and was a graduate of Southeastern Regional High School.

Bobby began his working career with Hall Smith and Sysco of Brockton. In 1984 he went into business for himself and founded May's Tire & Accessories on Turnpike Street in West Bridgewater. He worked side by side with his wife Doris running the operations of the business and later his sons Robert Jr. and Stephen joined the family business and were fortunate to have been taught a wealth of knowledge from their father in tire and auto repair.

A well known family business for 34 years, Bobby was meticulous for making sure customers cars were serviced correctly and on time with the utmost professionalism which were values passed onto his children. His automotive shop was always spotless and well organized.

Bobby, Doris and their children would take their time to know each and every customer, often socializing with water or ice cream sandwiches for their customers before getting back to work. His outreach and generosity to customers will always be remembered as will his strong firm handshake and contagious smile and laughter.

Bobby loved muscle cars and music was his passion. He enjoyed playing the guitar, exercising and was health consciences.

An avid dog lover he was always known to have German Shepherds.

In addition to his wife Doris and his mother, he is survived by his loving children, Robert "Bobby" May Jr. and his wife Kim of West Bridgewater and Stephen May of Easton; three grandchildren, Jordan May, Tyler May and Madyson May all of West Bridgewater; his siblings, Danny May of Brockton, Barbara Mouchayleh of Westford, Carl May of Easton and Ronny May of West Bridgewater; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
