Patriotic Emblem

Raymond Albert Sheffield II was the son of Raymond Albert Sheffield and Margaret Mary (O'Brien) Sheffield. He passed away on December 15, 2020 at the age of 81 at Baypointe Rehab Center in Brockton, where he had been a resident since June.

His hobbies were photography, country and western dancing, downhill skiing, and computers. He also enjoyed the fellowship at the Brockton YMCA and rooting for the Red Sox. For many years he was an amateur genealogist; he researched his family, relatives, and friends. He traced his roots to the Mayflower and beyond.

He was born in Somerville and grew up in Milton. He lived in Randolph and then in Brockton for 30 years. Since 2014 he had lived in North Easton and enjoyed his daily lunches with his fellow residents at the Easton Senior Housing complex. A veteran of the US Army, he served in Germany from 1962 to 1964 as a radar mechanic.

He was active in the Catholic Church. He was a baptism greeter and taught CCD for many years.

Ray was a retired Marketing Manager, working many years at Peterson Products in Holbrook. He also had a Construction Supervisors license from the Commonwealth of MA and the City of Boston and served as a Notary Public for many years. He attended Archbishop Williams High School and held a BA degree from UMass Boston and an MBA degree from Suffolk University.

He is survived by his adoring children, daughter Patty (and husband Rick) Gallagher of Norfolk, MA; son Ray (and wife Heidi) Sheffield of Northville, MI; and daughter Christine (and husband Greg) Fioretti of Freehold, NJ. He was a cherished grandfather to Adam and Shannon Gallagher; Nick, Alex, and Griffin Fioretti; and Lauren Sheffield. He was a loving brother to Sister Margaret Mary Sheffield, O.P., of Sinsinawa, WI; Cathy (and husband Keith) Durham of Plymouth, MA; Bob (and late wife Mary) Sheffield of Milton, MA; and the late Peggy (and husband Don) Connors, formerly of Duxbury, MA. He was also beloved by many nieces and nephews.

Although Ray would have wanted his friends and family to gather and reminisce at his funeral, the services and burial will be private because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Condolences may be expressed online at Donations may be made in Ray's memory to Old Colony Hospice at
