WEYMOUTH – PHYLLIS (CURRAN) MURRAY , A LOVING MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER AND GREAT-GRANDMOTHER, PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2018 AT THE AGE OF 88. PHYLLIS WAS BORN ON APRIL 15, 1930 IN PITTSBURGH, PA,TO ROBERT AND IRENE SPOONER. SHE THEN MOVED TO BROOKLYN, NY FOR THE NEXT 27 YEARS. PHYLLIS GRADUATED FROM BERKELEY INSTITUTE IN 1948. SHE WORKED AT THE DIME SAVINGS BANK IN BROOKLYN, WHERE SHE MET HER FIRST LOVE, MARTIN CURRAN, AND MARRIED HIM IN 1951. THEY MOVED TO STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK AND RAISED THEIR THREE DAUGHTERS, CYNTHIA, SUSAN AND LAURA.

DURING HER YEARS ON STATEN ISLAND, SHE WORKED AS A MEDICAL SECRETARY AT CLOVE LAKES NURSING HOME AND FOR SEVERAL PRIVATE PHYSICIANS. UPON THE DEATH OF HER HUSBAND IN 1977, SHE MOVED TO ABINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS WHERE SHE WAS BLESSED TO MEET HER SECOND LOVE, RICHARD MURRAY. THEY MARRIED IN 1986 AND BLENDED AN AMAZING FAMILY. PHYLLIS AND RICHARD LIVED IN RANDOLPH, MASSACHUSETTS FOR 15 YEARS, MOVING TO EASTON, MASS IN 2004, WHERE THEY RESIDED UNTIL RICHARDS DEATH IN 2016. PHYLLIS REMAINED IN EASTON UNTIL JANUARY OF THIS YEAR, MOVING TO BE WITH HER FAMILY IN WEYMOUTH UNTIL HER PASSING.

PHYLLIS WAS AN ALTAR GUILD MEMBER FOR MANY YEARS AT TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN RANDOLPH AND SANG IN THAT CHOIR AS WELL AS THE CHOIRS OF THE MANY CHURCHES SHE BELONGED TO SINCE CHILDHOOD. SHE LOVED READING, DOING EMBROIDERY BUT MOST OF ALL, LOVED BEING WITH HER FAMILY.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER HUSBAND MARTIN CURRAN AND RICHARD MURRAY, SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER DAUGHTERS, CYNTHIA CURRAN (GLENN) OF HOOKSET, NEW HAMPSHIRE, SUSAN CURRAN OF WEYMOUTH, MA, AND LAURA (ROBERT) JOHNSON OF MONTVALE, NEW JERSEY. SHE WAS THE PROUD STEPMOTHER OF JUDITH SMITH (PETER), JOSEPH MURRAY (ARLENE), KEVIN MURRAY (SUSAN), JEANNE BOLTON (PETER) AND EDWARD MURRAY(RENEE). LOVING GRANDMOTHER AND NANA TO 17 GRANDCHILDREN AND GREATGRANDMOTHER TO 6.

VISITATION WILL BE AT THE KANE FUNERAL HOME, 605 WASHINGTON STREET, EASTON ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2018 FROM 4PM TO 8PM. FUNERAL MASS AT HOLY NATIVITY CHURCH, SOUTH WEYMOUTH ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2018 AT 11:00 AM. BURIAL WILL BE IN STATEN ISLAND.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS TO HOLY NATIVITY CHURCH, PARKINSON'S DISEASE, OR BREAST CANCER SOCIETY WOULD BE WELCOME AND APPRECIATED.

PHYLLIS FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO THANK DR NAHID KENNEDY AND THE WONDERFUL STAFF AT SOUTHWOOD REHABILITATION IN NORWELL, MA FOR THE LOVING AND COMPASSIONATE CARE.
