EASTON——Philip A. Berardi, 78, of Easton, formerly of Randolph, died August 16, 2016 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Dorothy P. (Paolini) Berardi for 59 years.

Born in Boston, a son of the late Alessandro and Rosina (Pompeii) Berardi, he was raised in Brighton. A former captain and star football player at Brighton high school he earned a full scholarship to UMass Amherst, graduating with a Bachelors of Science degree. .

Philip was employed as a college professor where he taught anatomy and physiology at Quincy College for more than 40 years.

A resident of Randolph for 40 years, he was a past longtime town meeting member and finance committee member for the Town of Randolph. He has been a resident of Easton for the past 14 years.

He enjoyed model trains and his greatest treasure was time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Dorothy he is survived by two daughters, Linda Lakin and her husband Jon of Easton and Christine Woodard and her husband Matthew of Stoughton; two sisters Joanne Berardi and Kathleen "Chickie" Berardi both of Vero Beach, FL.; a sister-n-law, Joan Lampert of Chestnut Hill; a brother-in-law, Richard Paolini of Needham; four grandchildren, Michael Lakin and Robert Lakin both of Easton and Nicholas Woodard and Caroline Woodard both of Stoughton; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Foley, John "Sonny" Berardi, Bernardo "Billy" Berardi, Joseph Berardi, and Lucille Berardi.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton, on Monday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Easton, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Visiting hours on Sunday 3-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Philip's memory may be sent to The Cardiac Program c/o Massachusetts General Hospital Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA. 02114.
