Michael J. Doherty, 73, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2012, formerly of Easton, MA passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 19, 2017 in Cape Coral, FL.  He was born September 22, 1943 in Boston, MA to Michael and Ellen Doherty, now deceased.

Mike was a devoted husband and best friend to his wife Maryann.  He had an infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humor that endeared him to all that knew him.  He was a diehard New England Patriots fan and loved to golf.  He served 6 years in the Army National Guard and worked 40 years for WCVB in Boston, first as a film editor and then as an on the road camera operator.  Along with golf, he enjoyed skiing, bowling with his nephew Johnny and going to the casino.  More than anything, Mike loved to spend time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Maryann (Feeney) Doherty of Cape Coral, FL; three children, Michelle Reid and her husband Jay of Norton, MA, Chrissy DeLoughrey and her husband Dan of Easton, MA and Mike Doherty and his wife Kim of Raynham, MA; one sister, Kathy Troxell and her husband David of Cape Coral, FL; his cousin Sarah Doherty and her husband Willy, four grandchildren, Jim Hewitt and his wife Anya, Patrick DeLoughrey, Michael Doherty and Liam Doherty; as well as one great grandson Jack Hewitt. Mike is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

Mike was preceded in death by two sisters, Beadie Fraser and Ellie Levesque.

A service will be held from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Saturday, July 1st, 2017 at Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington St., (Rte.138) Easton, MA, 02375.  There will be a celebration of life following the service at the Easton VFW, 148 Allen Road, North Easton, MA 02356.
