Heart Emblem

Linda Mae Peterson, 74, formerly of North Easton MA, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2021 in Naples, Florida, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Emery Eric Peterson to whom she was married for 54 years.

Born on April 30th, 1946 in Brockton MA, she was the loving daughter of the late Stanley Bates Sr. and Lucille Alfieri. Her brother, John Bates, preceded her in death. She was the dear sister of Stanley Bates, Jr., and his wife Dottie of Assonet. Linda was a loving and devoted mother and is survived by two sons: Erik Peterson and his wife Lori of Naples, FL, and Scot Peterson and his wife Meaghan of Mansfield, MA. She is also survived by her four cherished grandchildren: Griffin, Reece, Kelly, and Cameron as well as many nieces and nephews and many close friends.

Linda was raised and educated in Brockton, MA and was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1964. Linda worked as a Dietician for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Brockton and eventually became the Asst. Chief of Voluntary Services, positions she held during her 34 years of dedicated service, retiring in 2004.

Her summers and favorite times were spent with family and friends boating in Oak Bluffs Harbor on Martha's Vineyard for more than 35 years. Her last 15 years of winters were spent in Naples, FL again enjoying and sharing herself with family and friends. Linda set roots that grew very deep into the communities that were lucky enough to have known her. She will always be remembered by her welcoming nature, kindness, and a willingness to live life to the fullest. Her spirit attracted beautiful characters of all types. She shared her zest for life with everyone through her contagious, radiant smile.

Linda's adoring family, whom she loved dearly, were truly the focal point of her life. Her grandchildren supplied her with a never-ending stream of joy which she reflected to them and is reflected in them. She was able to embody and project unconditional love to them. She was always grateful to have more time with her grandchildren and always thinking of the next adventure or place to take them.

She was trustworthy, dependable, and loyal. Selfless to the end, she led a life of compassion and love for everyone she touched. Family and friends were her passion. Linda will be forever celebrated in our hearts for the way she shared her joy and love with us.

Linda's Memorial Visitation, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be on Monday, May 10 from 4-7 pm at Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington Street, Easton, MA. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 11, at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106), Mansfield, MA. Burial will follow at Bourne National Cemetery.
