Patriotic Emblem

EASTON----James M. "Jim" Sullivan, 89, a resident of Easton for the past 50 years, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the husband of Patricia Beverly (Keane) Sullivan and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage on Wednesday, June 20th. He was three weeks shy of his 90th birthday.

Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, a son of the late Michael and Julia (Healy) Sullivan, he was a graduate of La Salle Academy, Providence. He continued his education at Bryant College earning a bachelors degree in finance.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a corporal in the US Army. After honorable discharge, Jim began working in the finance industry and was employed as an executive for Household Finance Corporation. Later, he was employed as Vice President for Union Deposit Bank, Rhode Island.

A devout Catholic, he was a longtime active communicant of the Holy Cross Church in Easton, serving as a lector, head usher and greeter for numerous years. James and his wife resided in St. Petersburg, Florida during winter months in their retirement for the past 20 years.

Devoted to family and friends, Jim was always a strong and constant presence in the lives of those who knew him. He was a dapper dresser, lifelong Boston sports fan, great reader and proud of his Irish heritage. He was an active and loving grandfather, who along with his wife Beverly, was present at every major and minor milestone for all his grandchildren. Just last month, he attended a college and high school graduation. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, council 238 of Easton.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by three daughters, Patricia A. Sullivan, Esq., of Warwick, RI., Kathleen M. Donovan and her husband John of Wellesley and Deborah J. Scolaro and her husband Joseph of Danvers; brother of William F. Sullivan and his wife Wilma of Warren, RI; grandfather of John L. Donovan III of New York City, Cara M. Donovan of Wellesley, Anthony J. Scolaro of Danvers and Matthew J. Scolaro of Danvers. He was also the brother of the late Ann Murphy.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton, on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Holy Cross Church, Easton, at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
