EASTON----Esther (Black) Sylvester, 89, a resident of Easton for the past 64 years, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was the wife of the late Joseph Sylvester.

Born in Brockton, a daughter of the late Neil and Ruth (Alger) Black, she was raised in West Bridgewater and was a graduate of Howard High School.

Esther was employed as a secretary for Jerry Miller Shoe Company of Whitman for several years. She was a member of both the Junior Women's Club, Mother's Club of Easton, and The Red Hat Society.

She enjoyed traveling and visiting different destinations around the world, and was an avid cook who enjoyed reading, embroidery, gardening and listening to music.

Esther is survived by her children, Marjorie Engel and her husband Mark of Hingham, Brian Sylvester and his wife Janice of West Bridgewater and Deborah Sylvester-Lane of Plymouth; 7 grandchildren, Jonathan Engel and his wife Jennifer, Ashley Engel and her husband Brendan Gibney, Chad Sylvester and his wife Rachel, Brent Sylvester, Brianna Sylvester, Hayley Sylvester and Lauren Lane.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers donations in Esther's memory may be sent to the Arthritis Foundation, 29 Crafts Street, # 450, Newton, MA. 02458.
