AVON——Edward J. Rizzi, 59, a resident of Avon for the past 21 years, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Donna A. (Demling) Rizzi for 19 years.

Born in Quincy, a son of the late Arthur J. and Theresa S. (Young) Rizzi, he was raised in Quincy and Randolph and was a graduate of Randolph High School.

Edward was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a correctional officer for 33 years and worked at Cedar Junction in Walpole.

Devoted to family, Edward enjoyed yard work, spending time with his grandchildren, the company of his cats and watching television.

In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by two children, Julie Niemi and her husband Thomas of West Bridgewater and Edward J. Rizzi Jr. of Randolph; his siblings, Deborah Hilchey of Stoughton and her late husband William, Diane Bradford of Stoughton, Arthur Rizzi and his wife Rachel of Easton and Joseph Rizzi of Randolph; three grandchildren, Anthony, Edward, and Melinda; nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton and on Thursday morning from 9-10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
