EASTON——Dorothy L. (Oman) Nelson, 94, a lifelong resident of Easton, died Sunday, August 28, 2016, at the Copley at Stoughton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Edwin G. Nelson.

Born in Easton, a daughter of the late Roy C. and Dorothy L. (Wickson) Oman, she was raised in Easton and was a 1940 graduate of Oliver Ames High School. She continued her education at business school earning a certificate in business.

Dorothy began working in the business office at New England Telephone and left after a number of years to raise her children. She reentered the workforce and was employed in the customer service department for Bay State Gas Company of Brockton. After her retirement she became the accountant for the family business, E.G. Nelson & Son of Easton.

A longtime member of the Free Evangelical Fellowship Church of Easton, she served as past treasurer. A member of the Christian Women's Business Association, Dorothy enjoyed cooking sewing and crossword puzzles.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Barbara E. Matta and her husband Ronald of Conway, South Carolina, Theodore A. Nelson and his wife Doreen of Middleboro, and Jane L. Rosado of Brockton; three grandchildren, Scott M. Sutherland and his wife Jennifer of Milton, Heather L. Dennehy and her husband James of Bridgewater, and Shauna Rommelmeyer and her husband James of Randolph; two great grandchildren, Joseph R. Sutherland and Tanner J. Sutherland; she was also the sister of the late Robert Oman.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in The Free Evangelical Fellowship Church, 604 Foundry Street (Rte.106) Easton. Interment will follow in Furnace Village Cemetery, Easton. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Dorothy's memory may be sent to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave, # 2, Norwood, MA. 02062.
