EASTON---David Acton Williams, 87, a life-long resident of Easton, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Manor in Brockton on October 26, 2017 after a brief illness with loving family members by his side. Born in Brockton in 1930, David was the son of the late Albert Edward Williams of West Bridgewater; his mother, Ruth Arizona Baillie, passed away when he was a child. His beloved wife, Barbara Jean Bissett, died in 2008. They were married in 1951 and enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. David is survived by his children, Albert Edward Williams and wife Jeanne, of West Bridgewater, Jean Evelyn Atwater-Williams and husband Ron Bernard of Sandisfield MA, and Ruth Anne Williams Carrigan and husband Tom of East Bridgewater. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Kevin and Joshua Carrigan, Katherine and Emma Williams; Aleksandra Uzpurvis, and David and Elizabeth Williams; and his cherished calico cat, Caledonia.

Dave touched the lives of many and was dedicated to serving youth in the community. He was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School Class of '49, a Korean War Veteran (US Army) and member of the Easton VFW. In addition to being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, he was a troop leader for Boy Scout Troop 54 and a life member of the Ames Rifle Club where he coached a youth target shooting league. Dave was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, bicycling, kayaking and canoeing. He and Barbara enjoyed world-wide travel and they especially treasured their trips to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland They were active members of the Southeastern MA chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club and led many canoe trips on the Saco River in Maine. Dave was a member of Paul Revere Masonic Lodge in Brockton and a member of Covenant Congregational Church in Easton. Dave was happiest when encircled by family and friends – and better yet if surrounded by the natural beauty of the great outdoors!

Calling hours will be held from 5 – 8 pm on Monday, October 30 at Covenant Congregational Church, 204 Center Street, North Easton with the funeral to be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 31 (also at the church). Burial will take place immediately following the funeral service at Furnace Village Cemetery in South Easton.
