Heart Emblem

EASTON - Carol (Young) Owens, 77, a resident of Easton for over 30 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Daggett Crandall Newcomb Home in Norton amongst the wonderful care of the DCN staff and continually surrounded by all of her family. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Owens, Sr.

Born in Dorchester on August 25, 1940, a daughter of the late Edward A. and Gertrude (Kane) Young, she was one of eight children. She prevailed through a difficult childhood with the death of her older brother, James, a military veteran who was KIA in Germany in 1945, and the unexpected and tragic loss of her mother, Gertrude, in 1957 when Carol was only 14.

While helping to care for the Young family, she completed her high school education in the greater Boston area. Her world was forever changed in June of 1964 when she married Robert Owens, Sr. whom she spent 49 blissfully wedded years until his passing in 2013.

She was first and foremost a homemaker who unselfishly put the lives of her family and children first, working part-time jobs such as the cafeteria in the Easton Public Schools, but more notably in the cafeteria of Stonehill College where she was a cashier for over 20 years. Her world was consumed with taking care of her husband, her 3 children, and her 7 grandchildren. Her happiness came from seeing her family succeed in life by attending their events and activities such as 7 high school graduations, 5 college graduations, band concerts, soccer games, and birthday parties. Her absence at these special events will undoubtedly be missed by her family.

Carol is survived by her children, Lisa M. Farrell of Easton, Robert J. Owens Jr. of Easton and James E. Owens and his wife Meredith of Franklin; her sister, Loretta Weitz of Hollywood, Florida; and seven grandchildren, Jaymes, Samantha, Elijah, Christian, Jonathan, Cole and Mason.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 2nd at 6pm at Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton with family visitation between 4-6pm the same day. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent in Carol's memory to Daggett Crandall Newcomb Home, 55 Newland Street, Norton, MA 02766. For directions or condolences visit www.kanefuneralhome.com
