Heart Emblem

EASTON---Amelia M. Phinney, 37, of Easton, passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2020, at Boston Medical Center. She was the loving mother of Alexis McElligott of Easton. Born July 17, 1982, in Jamaica Plain, she was the cherished daughter of John and Pauline (Goff) Phinney of Easton.

Amelia was raised and educated in Easton. She was employed as a business representative for the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Local 346 in Randolph. Prior to this, she worked for many years in the Boston area as a union carpenter, including work on the Big Dig and as the union steward on the Fore River Bridge. She also spent countless hours promoting the interests of women carpenters.

Amelia loved spending time with her daughter and her family and enjoyed kayaking, deep sea fishing, travelling, and working on the house with her dad. She shared a love of theater and acting with her mom and delighted in encouraging her daughter's involvement in theater, dance, and singing.

In addition to her daughter and her parents, she is survived by her brother, Nicholas Phinney, of North Providence, RI, her grandmother, Maureen Goff, of Tonbridge, England, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers in the United States and the United Kingdom. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Due to the COVID-19 Crisis, funeral services will be private. Amelia's family is deeply appreciative of all of the love and support they have received from her extended family, her friends, and her sisters and brothers in the union. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to her daughter's college fund or a charity of your choice. Donations to the college fund can be mailed to Amelia M. Phinney Estate, East Boston Savings Bank, Attn: Lisa Dunlea, 2 Granite Ave, Milton, MA 02186, or online at
