EASTON---Alfred A. Johnson, 79, a resident of Easton for the past 56 years, passed away peacefully at home under the care of his family on Thursday, December 27, 2018. He was the loving husband of Elaine M. (Tanner) Johnson for 41 years.

Born in Boston, a son of the late John and Florence (Newbegin) Johnson, he was raised in Dedham and was a graduate of Dedham High School. A veteran of the US Navy he served during peacetime and was honorably discharged.

Alfred worked in the sheet metal trade and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 J.A.T.C. of Dorchester.

An avid woodworker, Alfred enjoyed building furniture, wood carving and gardening. He shared numerous memories traveling with his wife Elaine and visiting various countries around the world.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Alfred Johnson and his longtime friend Jane of Maine, Carl Johnson and his wife Maureen of Foxboro, Heather Tracey and her husband James of Rochester, Gilbert Johnson and his wife Kim of East Freetown; his step-children, Julie Landry and her husband Scott of East Bridgewater, Martha Murphy and her husband Barry of Whitinsville and Karin Swartz and her husband Kevin of Easton; also survived by 12 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Herbert Johnson, Hendrick Johnson and Arnold Johnson.
