Condolence & Memory Journal

I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of Stephen's passing. I knew him from my time at BHS and remember his big smile and kind nature. Extending my deepest condolences to his wife, son and family, that you find peace and comfort in the days ahead. May he rest in peace. In spirt, Gina Blardo/Bloomfield, CT.

The news of Steven's passing hit me hard. He was such a free loving spirit, whose heartfelt smile could light up a room. There wasn't a young girl in the neighborhood that didn't have a crush on him. Like the pied piper, he usually had several kids following behind him, awaiting a magic trick or story. Growing up two doors away from the Brady clan was the most special of times. I can still hear the sound of the kitchen screen door closing behind any one who entered and Mrs B inevitably cooking something. When he was clearing out their parents home, Steve brought me the framed picture seen here. He knew of my love of the west and thought I would enjoy it and all these years latwr, I still do. Now it is even more precious. My deepest condolences to Jolan, Liam, Michael, Karen and family. I know you must miss him beyond words.

I was a friend and baseball teammate of Steve throughout high school. Besides being a great athlete, he was an incredibly warm and funny guy. I know he will be missed by family and friends. Rest in peace, Steve.

Steve was an outstanding teacher at Brookline's Devotion School and was especially important to my son's second grade year. I admired him tremendously.

Not so long ago, Steve surprised me with a phone call after reading a letter to the Editor of mine and we had a wonderful long "catch-up" conversation. He sounded as vigorous, creative and contented as ever. This is a stunning loss. What a wonderful person: intelligent, amusing, talented, and he always brightened up a day if you bumped into him at school. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family. Steve will never be forgotten by all of us who knew and loved him. The world needs more like him!

For me, Stephen (aka Estaban-a favorite nickname of his, given about 15 years ago & spelled correctly) was quite special. I knew him best during some of his formative years (mid-20's), but now realize his formative years never stopped. He was always trying to make things better, somehow. I'm sad because of this news, but can rest thinking of him telling me to turn that frown upside down, and shading me if I didn't.
Thank you Stephen, Ken K
