Tribute & Message From The Family

North Easton----Anne Elizabeth (Freitas) Deschenes, 69, a lifelong resident of North Easton, passed away on January 13, 2021 with her family at her side. She was the loving wife of Leo E. Deschenes for 47 years.

Raised in North Easton, a daughter of the late John and Marion (Treptow) Freitas, she was a 1969 graduate of Oliver Ames High School. Anne continued her education at Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass Dartmouth), graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1973.

Anne held the position of Child Services Coordinator for Fr. Bill's & MainSpring, a non-profit that works to end and prevent homelessness in Southern Massachusetts. She was one of the longest serving employees there. Every year, she coordinated the holiday donations and worked tirelessly to make sure the holidays were special for every child and family.

A former girl scout leader, Anne was a lifelong communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, where she taught religious education and first communion classes for many years.

Anne enjoyed playing the piano, attending concerts and traveling. She was an avid Beatles fan who visited Abbey Road. She had an excellent sense of humor and was devoted to her family.

In addition to her husband Leo, she is survived by four children, Peter Deschenes and his wife Molly of Easton, Rose Desilets and her husband Josh of Somerville, John Paul Deschenes of Easton, and Leanne Deschenes and her life partner Jay Paonessa of Vermont; her siblings, Eleanor Freitas of Brockton, John Freitas and his life partner Rosemary Doherty-Grosso of Bourne, Bill Freitas of Iowa, and the late Jane Freitas-Coffman; and her grandchildren Fred Deschenes and Sophie Deschenes.

Due to the pandemic, private funeral services for family will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church with interment at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Donations in Anne's memory may be sent to Fr. Bill's MainSpring, c/o Development, 430 Belmont Street, Brockton, MA 02301 or www.helpfbms.org.
