Tribute & Message From The Family

EASTON----Florine I. (Chisholm) Freitas, 91, a resident of Easton for 65 years, passed away at home on Thursday, July 30, 2020 under the care of her family. She was the loving wife of Joseph P. Freitas for 68 years. Florine was loved by all for her gentle and kind ways; family was always her highest priority. Her determination, inner strength and compassion were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Born and raised in Weymouth, the daughter of the late Andrew and Mildred (Lennon) Chisholm, sister of the late Andrew Chisholm, Jr., she was a graduate of Weymouth High School. Florine continued her education at the Kathleen Dell Secretarial School in Boston, graduating in 1948.

She began her working career at South Shore Hospital and later took a position with a private medical practice in Boston. She left the working field to start a family and later returned when her children were in school. She took a position with Goddard Memorial Hospital where she was employed for 23 years, retiring as the Assistant Director of medical records.

Florine was a member of the Easton Garden Club and the American Medical Record Association. Her hobbies included gardening (she was especially proud of her roses), knitting, golf and camping. She enjoyed traveling, crossing the US twice, Canada once, and participating in many educational Elder Hostels.

In addition to her husband Joseph, she is survived by her children, Stephen Freitas and his wife Joann of Easton, Mark Freitas and his wife AnneMarie of Walpole, Thomas Freitas and his wife Suzanne of Jericho, VT, and Glenn Freitas and his wife Pamela of Foxboro; 7 grandchildren, Paul Freitas, Elizabeth Davis, Brian Freitas, Kim Freitas, Joseph Freitas, Erik Freitas, and Kyle Freitas; 2 great grandchildren, Nathan Freitas and Evelyn Freitas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

As a result of the current pandemic, private funeral services for family will be held with interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Condolence & Memory Journal

I was so sad to hear the passing of Florine. Florine was like a Grandmother and a great friend to me. When Florine was living in Easton I would come twice a month to clean her home. When I walked in the door her eyes would light up and she always had a big smile on her face. She was such a kind and caring person. Florine and Joe would tell me so many stories about there childhood, her family, their past and much more. I enjoyed every minute of being around her. She was a very special person to me. She will surely be missed. I will treasure all my memories with her.

Dearest Uncle Joe, Stephen, Mark, Tom and Glenn and your families,
Our hearts go out to you in sympathy in the passing of Aunt Florine. She was such a wonderful lady and I have been reminiscing about such sweet and dear memories of family gatherings on Baldwin St. Aunt Florine truly cared about us all. She always asked how everyone in my family was doing and had a sharp memory of our last conversation no matter how long ago it had been. I loved her quick wit and smile. Wishing we could have been with you today but please know that we are with you in spirit.
Love, Annie and Leo Deschenes

Dear Uncle Joe, Steve, Mark, Tom, Glen and all of Aunt Florine's beautiful extended family:
Aunt Florine has a permanent place in my heart. I really love her. She always made me feel like I was her only niece. She was always interested in me and how my family was doing. She had a great sense of humor. She had so much wisdom. I loved just being in her presence which gave me a feeling of being home. I could tell that she loved the Lord. She had a servant's heart and a cheerful presence. She loved you, Uncle Joe. I could tell. What an incredible and loving marriage you had. Thank you and Aunt Florine for setting a really good example of a how a marriage works. Your hearts must be so sad right now, because my heart is sad, too. Beautiful, inside and out, Aunt Florine, I will miss you even more as time goes on. Please know that Rick and I are praying for God to give you all strength for the upcoming days and for peace as you remember the wonderful and precious moments you had with her. Love, Gail and Rick

We loved Aunt Florine. How could you help it...look at that smile! From the time of my childhood through my adulthood, she always engaged and cared about
what was happening in our lives. I will miss her and especially her easy laughter. She was a great role model, particularly as a life-long learner.

Dear Mark & AnnMarie, I was very sad to hear of your mother's passing.I had the pleasure of meeting her and your Dad at several concerts. They were dedicated to your music Mark, and to listen to AnnMarie's beautiful voice. Your mom, as the Matriarch, created a wonderful family and fabulous legacy. Your Mom had a successful and fulfilling life and she was so accomplished. It's a family trait as I have enjoyed playing music with you and many Board Meetings together. You're the consummate gentleman and successful businessman and I look forward to many more musical years Here's to Florine Freitas who enjoyed a long and beautiful life.

Paying tribute to Florine comes easily. A lady I was very fond of.

My brother, Joe, presented this lovely young woman to our family 68 years ago.
She accepted this commitment and others in life with quiet determination.

Adding her at-home celebrations for the extended families added depth to the larger unit.

When presented with new adventures, Florine was willing to grasp the opportunity. With this attitude and four sons, it made for a very busy family life

We cannot offer our sympathy in person, but your family is in our thoughts and prayers as you miss the presence of your dear wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother. Each of you is being remembered. Florine is aptly remembered in the obituary for her devotion to her family and her determination. May her example continue to inspire us all.
