Tribute & Message From The Family

Evelyn (Cameron) Worster, beloved and beautiful mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully in her home of 50 years surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born on June 6, 1941, the daughter of Reginald and Evelyn (Hall) Cameron. She was the youngest of six children, with one brother and four older sisters. With four older sisters, it seemed to Evelyn that her parents had simply run out of girls' names and just settled on the name Evelyn, after her mother.

She grew up spending many of her summers in Maine, living it up at her aunt and uncle's home on the coast. She would often attend dances at the Merry Barn where, as her friend said, there were no shortage of boys who wanted to dance with her. After graduating high school, Evelyn went to school to become a hair stylist. She married her husband, Galen, in 1960 and went on to have four children. While she was a stay-at-home mom, as her children grew, she continued to work as a hair stylist from home, pursued her interests and attended school to become a travel agent, and also worked as a waitress at a local restaurant for several years.

Evelyn was the most selfless person, sacrificing her own needs to care for her parents when their health was failing, opening up her home to any family member who needed a place to stay and always being there during life's difficult times to do anything to help care for her children and grandchildren. She was the perfect mother and grandmother, providing unconditional love and sound advice. Evelyn's beauty, charm, sense of humor and tenacity inspired those of us fortunate to know and love her. Evelyn loved to laugh and was often the funniest person in the room, cracking everyone up with her quick wit and wisecracks. Most often alongside her children and grandchildren, Evelyn loved to travel, go fishing, attend concerts and plays, and even toil around the trails on an ATV. On family road trips, she was in charge of holding the bucket for carsick kids and keeping the peace when the kids were restless.

Evelyn is survived by close friend and father to their children, Galen; son Mark Worster of North Easton and his three children: Megan, Chrissy and Ben; son Kevin Worster, his wife Michelle (Worth) and their three children: Brittany, John and Keri, all of Hertford, NC; son Michael Worster, his girlfriend Jill Saunders and his three children: Matt, Cam and Dom, all of North Easton; daughter Michelle (Worster) Connolly, her husband Frank Connolly and their two sons: Shawn and Ryan, all of Lakeville. Evelyn is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; sisters Natalie Kimball and her husband, James, Janice Fuller, Nancy Baca and Regina Smith; her brother-in-law, Shawn Worster and his wife Liliane Verdier; several nieces and nephews; her dear friend, Joan Benson, of St. Croix and her pet "fishy", whom she has had for the past 27 years.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Edgecomb Community Church, 15 Cross Point Rd., Edgecomb, Maine and is open to all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn's honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).

We were so sad to hear of Evelyn's passing. Such a good listener is what Rick used to say.

We are so very sorry for Evelyn's passing and for the Worster family's tremendous loss of their precious mother. We have some great memories of her laugh, smile and radiant personality. She always made us feel welcome and part of the family. Often times when we were in Easton, we would stop by unannounced, sometimes with our children in tow and it seemed that it was never a bother to her, her graciousness and hospitality , we will always remember. May you Rest in Peace Mrs. Worster!
