NORTON--Mr. Philip A. Cutting formerly of Southport and New London, CT, passed away on October 15th at the age of 83.

Phil was born to parents Annie Angus and Lloyd Cutting in Sharon, CT. He grew up in Southport, CT. He attended Mount Herman School and Tufts University both in MA. After school, he served in the US Army as radio communications specialist in Germany and France.

Known as 'Capt. Phil' professionally, he worked the majority of his career as a radio personality, recreational marine reporter, talk show host, PR manager, and program director at WCBS, WICC, WNAB, and WNLK. After radio and prior to retirement, Phil served as Vice President at Concrete Flotation Systems. He loved boating, salt water fishing, and enjoying anything to do with Long Island Sound. After retirement he volunteered as an interpreter at Mystic Seaport and became an avid artist, painting with watercolor.

Phil is survived by his son, Chris Cutting and his wife Betsy of Norton, MA; his sister Jean Russman and her husband Lenny of Madison, CT; sister in law Mary Ellen Cutting of FL; his grandchildren Joshua Cutting, Jordan Cutting, and Alden Doak; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Lloyd Cutting, Jr.
