Tribute & Message From The Family

EASTON—Ronald Buck of Easton, Massachusetts. Ronald "Mike" Buck was married to Rose Freitas Buck, also of Easton, for 60 years, and together they have nine children: Gregory Buck, Christopher Buck, Cynthia Huyffer, Stephen Buck, Janine Martinelli, Jacquelyn Rose, Benjamin Buck, Bernadette Buck, and Alexander Buck. Ron was raised in Easton, and attended Olivier Ames High School. After High school he joined the United States Navy, serving as a radio operator on the air craft carrier USS Midway. He then attended Stonehill College, graduating in 1956, a member of the fifth graduating class. He went on to earn a Masters in Business Administration at Northwestern University in Chicago, and had a long career in investment management and real estate, both in large corporations and as a Chartered Financial Analyst with his own practice. He felt his most shining achievement was his children.

Ron was an avid skier and sailor, and in fact loved everything about salt water — he was particularly fond of standing chest deep in water probing the mud bottom with his toes to find quahogs. He was perhaps unreasonably proud of his clam chowder. Ron and Rose traveled extensively in the US and Europe, learning about art, architecture and civilization. This study continued with their volunteering at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Together, they avidly followed the Red Sox, attended Sunday Catholic Mass and frequently engaged in political and philosophical conversations. Ron also had an unfathomable fondness for mustard yellow sweatshirts. Ron was outgoing and engaging — he wanted to know your story, and was happy to tell you his, in his purest and most disciplined Boston accent: not once in his life did he pronounce an "r" at the end of a word.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday 2-5 pm at Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton. Funeral Mass is Monday at 10 am at the Chapel of Mary, Stonehill College 320 Washington St, N. Easton followed by burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Ron's memory may be sent to Stonehill College, Advancement Division, 320 Washington Street, Easton, MA. 02357-6242.
