Memories & Candles
Gus was a teenager, best of friends with my three older brothers, when I was just a toddler, 11 years his junior. He always treated me so well, always smiling, including me in their antics. He even tried to teach me to play trombone. I remember his cars, from the enormous sulky track Cadillac phaeton to the tiny bug-eye Austin-Healy Sprite. He and his dad, Big Gus, had pet crows that talked. We'd eat raw hamburger and milk the cows. I loved that farm, and sweet old Mr. Weiss, Gus's grandfather. Gus was a lot like him, big-hearted and kind.

Nancy, Linda & Jeff, I have some many wonderful memories of Gus. Pushing us on the tire swing, collecting fireflies, the pool, canoeing, skating, skiing, marching in his band. The list is endless. What a wonderful childhood we had thanks to Gus and your entire family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Gus....so sorry to hear of the passing of my dad's best friend. You two can tell all those fishing tales up in heaven now. Truly a great guy. My brother and I have fond memories of our canoe camping trips with Jeff, you and my dad. Condolences to all of the Arns.

I met Gus through the Lions and got to know him better while working at the Thrift Store. There was many a day where he was one of the first ones there to help set-up and the last one to leave at closing. Always had a smile and he got along with all the customers. He will be sorely missed by all that worked with him.

Gus was such an involved and beloved member of our community. Not easy to be both, but it was for Gus.
I will always remember Gus when the Reindog parade makes its annual march down Main St in December.
My condolences to his family, especially Nancy who too is beloved by many, especially by her fellow Easton Lions!
